Jenna Marquard, PhD
Jenna Marquard came to UMass Amherst in 2008 after completing degrees at the University of Iowa and University of Wisconsin-Madison. She hopes to design technologies that support consumer, nurse, and physician decision-making. She loves spending time with her husband and two boys, running, hiking, and cross-country skiing.
Swaminathan Kandaswamy, MS
Swami's research focuses on how EHR interfaces can be designed to improve health IT. He hopes to combine human factors and informatics to understand and improve health IT performance and safety. Swami is an avid cricket follower. He loves to play/watch DoTA. He has a growing interest in cooking, specifically Indian cuisine.
Vanessa Martinez, MS
Vanessa, a first-generation Latinx, grew up in Phoenix, AZ. She completed her BSE in Electrical Engineering at Arizona State (Fear the Fork!). In her spare time, she serves as the SHPE de UMass graduate student advisor, and works on WhatsNextFam, a project that aims to assist first-generation students of color obtain post-grad career opportunities. She also serves as the Technology Director for the UMass Amherst GWIS #SafeAtWork campaign.
Kristine DeSotto, BS
Kristine is working on her masters in Industrial Engineering at UMass Amherst. She graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2012 and has six years of experience doing process improvement work in the healthcare industry. Kristine enjoys hiking and taking road trips, especially during the warmer months of the year.
